Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS), TU and Local Development Training Academy (LDTA), Jawalakhel, Lalitpur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for bilateral cooperation. According to the agreement the two institutions will conduct joint researches, seminars and workshops as well as work on human resource development programmes.
The MOU is signed by Prof. Dr. Yagya Adhikari, Executive Director of CNAS and Mr. Babu Ram Shrestha, Executive Director of LDTA. The MOU will remain valid for 5 years.

Professor Yagya Prasad Adhikari, PhD, Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS) has been appointed as a new executive Director of the CNAS in 9 March, 2008 for the term of four years. Prof. Adhikari has done his Masters degree in Political Science from TU. He had received doctoral degree on "Foreign Policy Perspective of Nepali Congress (1947-90)" from the Banaras Hindu University, Banaras, India in ….. He has published many books on Nepalese Politics and Governance and has published many research articles in different national as well as international journals. He has been associated with CNAS since 1997.

A Memorandom of Understanding between Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies, Tribhuvan University and Graduate GP Program of Kwasai Gakuin University, Japan has been signed by Prof. Dr. Yagya Prasad Adhikari, Executive Director and Prof. Kenji Kosaka, Program Leader of the Graduate GP Program under their respective institutions on March 6, 2009 at Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies seminar hall. On the occasion His Excellency Ambassador of Japan in Nepal delivered a short speech

Prof. Dr. Novel Kishore Rai, CNAS visited Thai Development Research Institute (TDRI), Bankok from 24- 28 March, 2008. The visit has been organized by SNV/N on behalf of Social Inclusion Research Fund Secretariat. Prof. Rai is the member of Interim Screening Committee of SIRF.

Prof. Rai left for Leipzig University, Germany on 15 April, 2008. Prof. Rai will work further on Documentation of Chintang and Puma Languages for two months. The project has been conducted since 2004 in association with Tribhuvan University.

Dr. Panch Narayan Maharjan, Associate Professor at CNAS participated the conference on "Leadership for National Security" organized by Bangladesh Political Science Association and Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Dhaka in from 5-7 March, 2008. Dr. Maharjan made discussions on the keynote paper.

Prof. Nirmal Man Tuladhar of CNAS left for Kyoto, Japan on April 15,2008 on the invitation of the Dean of Graduate School of Asian and African Studies, Kyoto University, Japan as a Visiting Professor for the period of 3 months. Professor Tuladhar had carried out the documentation on "Contributions to Nepalese Studies made by Japanese Scholars." Meanwhile he facilitated an institutional affiliation between CNAS and Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS), Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) and Center for Integrated Area Studies (CIAS), Kyoto University.
